About Hip Hop Music

Hip hop music (also referred to as rap music) was developed in the united states in the 1970s and grew in huge popularity during the 1980s cementing itself into modern pop culture. The production of the music originally was based around the sampling of other records to create backing tracks for mcs (rappers) to rap over. Hip hop culture is defined by four main stylistic elements: rapping, djing (and scratching), breakdancing and graffiti writing.
